Our History
Graphite Machining, Inc. was founded in 1973 in the metro Detroit, Michigan,
area. As the demand for GMI's machined and non-machined graphite increased,
GMI outgrew its facility in Detroit and relocated to Metamora, Michigan,
in 1988. The company continued to grow, and again needed to expand. In
1997, a new addition was added to the Metamora facility. With this new
addition also came additional CNC machining and sawing equipment. Continued growth
required a second facility in Topton, Pennsylvania, in February 2000.
Then in 2006, a third facility was opened in Robesonia, PA.
Today GMI's machining facilities are among the world's finest. We have more than 125,000 square feet of combined manufacturing space, designed for efficient handling of your order from receipt of material to final packaging and shipping. Our substantial investment in equipment features over 150 pieces of automated machining equipment.
GMI, through its sister company, Advanced Carbon Technologies, can also provide in-house vacuum induction purification. High temperature purification services are available for 3 to 5 day turnaround, with purity levels of less than 5 ppm total ash.
